A Critical Analysis of the Communist Manifesto
The Communist Manifesto was composed by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels which contained the entirety of the thoughts and presumptions by Marx. The Communist Manifesto had the option to rouse various thinkers and theorists. And as it was distributed at the stature of the political strife in Europe, it likewise filled in as a motor for some insurgencies that occurred inside the previous century. Subsequently, following the distribution of the Communist Manifesto, it motivated various upheavals to upset the ascent of Capitalism, especially in Russia and China (ââ¬Å"The Communist Manifesto,â⬠n.p).The compositions by Marx and Engels which made the principle precepts in the Communist Manifesto impacted transformations not by simply unimportant unsettling through composition; rather they powered progressive gatherings by standing up to the entrepreneur powers through the powers of the working classes. They found the exceptional job of the working classes, who they accepted were fit fo r ousting the entrepreneur class (ââ¬Å"The Communist Manifesto,â⬠n.p).The Communist Manifesto is fixated on class battle and proceeding with enmities in the general public. This as per the Manifesto, class battle spins between the bourgeoisie and the proletarians â⬠the oppressor and the mistreated; the couple of and many. Consequently, the Manifesto predicts the likely methods of killing abuse by canceling the essential factors that affect mistreatment â⬠model: private property â⬠which will in the end lead towards ousting the bourgeosie (ââ¬Å"The Communist Manifesto,â⬠n.p).In agreement with this interest, Marx drafted the Communist Manifesto guided by Historical Dialectical Materialism so as to bring up the issues that had been expending the general public. Utilizing this guide, he anticipated the progressions that could occur in the general public as the method of creation changes gradually. And these progressions will turn into the motor for a progressiv e topple of the current overwhelming class. Also, as free enterprise will arrive at its pinnacle, it will get soaked and will inevitably meet its death under the administration of the proletariats. The Pursuit of a Stateless SocietyConsequently, Marx noted expectations on a few factors that will help manufacture a stateless society. This incorporates: (1) requirement of dynamic tax assessment. (2) annulment of legacy, (3) adjustment of wages and (4) the shared appointment of terrains. Considering these things, Marx envisioned a stateless society wherein oppositions among classes can be eliminated. However, there are different sides that are to be viewed if the general public ought to be changed. There are explicit levels wherein a nation should adapt to so as to successfully do these sorts of changes which can end up being useful for the citizens.Different nations may respond on specific conditions if things are to be forced on them. Furthermore, there ought to be lucidity of the pote ntial results that it might bring. Specifically, socialist nations had crumbled and has separated in the last decades.None of the socialist nations have supported its fortitude, specifically, China and Russia. What's more, for the instance of Cuba, their reality in the socialist domain has filled in for instance to no one.For the Communists, particularly for Marx, a stateless society implied the foundation of an uncouth society and rendering regular responsibility for the methods for creations. It additionally involves impartial circulation of pay among the residents. Nonetheless, it requires various procedures and cycles that are to be embraced so as to accomplish it. Therefore, the elements referenced above are the firsts on the rundown in achieving an uncouth society. As such, however these elements that Marx referenced in the Manifesto may contribute extraordinarily towards the fulfillment of a stateless society, they may have negative ramifications in the society. There are still drawbacks that are inferable with these means that may have direct impact in the development and improvement of the general public, and furthermore lies the likelihood that it might serve unfavorable results for them. Subsequently, these arrangements ought to be broke down to evaluate their sensibility and adequacy on the off chance that they can be helpful to the individuals in general.Thesis and ArgumentThe motivation behind this paper is cautiously dissect the substance of the Manifesto, specifically, the four estimates that Marx proposed towards accomplishing a stateless society. Accordingly, the proposition of this paper is to demonstrate that there are foes that might be caused if those measures will be utilized. What's more, that the sensibility of each measure relies upon the potential results that might be gotten from it.Hence, the contentions rotate on three equal thoughts: (1) these measures whenever utilized, however may accelerate the way toward achieving a stateless s ociety, may likewise hinder social, political and financial development; (2) incidentally, however a stateless society points towards disposing of class oppositions, these four measures mentioned.Considerably builds the hole between the working classes and the bourgeosie by the purposeful dismissal of the bourgeosie class; and (3) given the charitable want from the Manifesto to kill destitution, the goals introduced through these measures were extremely hopeful and idealistic, henceforth may render these improper and not doable for the greater part of the countries.Progressive TaxationProgressive tax collection is one of the twelve estimates that Communism expected to authorize. Dynamic tax assessment is a framework wherein charge rates are forced dependent on the financial status and prosperity of the individual to be burdened. The assessment rates are distinguished by the capacity of a person to pay. Generally, on the off chance that an individual gains huge, at that point he will be exposed to higher assessment rates; a similar way that an individual who wins little will be burdened by his ability to pay (Lakoff and Budner, n.p).For the supporters of Communism, progresive tax assessment can give redistribution of capital, which they accept can additionally hurry the way toward dispensing with class battle. Through this, it is accepted that redistributing the taxation rate towards the individuals who can stand to pay can settle the progression of capital, and the economy consequently. Likewise, progresive tax assessment additionally fills in as an observing gadget to confine securing of private property.Furthermore, progresive tax collection facilitates the weight for the individuals who can't pay empowering them to designate a bigger bit of their pay for their family's essential needs. Hence, dynamic tax collection for the Communists render people to have an increasingly impartial result so they can make the most out of the their rewards for so much hard wo rk (ââ¬Å"Capitalism, Socialism and Communism,â⬠n.p).Although there are sure advantages that are feasible through dynamic tax assessment, in like manner there are drawbacks of it. There are people who consider this sort of duty arrangement as unfair and inefficient.Progressive tax collection is oppressive in such away that the individuals who work more diligently gets more constrained on making good on higher assessments; while the individuals who don't work and endeavor enough are being exposed to get government sponsorships and privileges. In expansion, it provides food wastefulness in the way burdens are being forced on people, while enduring salary misappropriation packaged by the State'sâ conscious impedance which is then interpreted in the resident's dread of intersection the edges among vote based system and fascism. (ââ¬Å"Few Words on the Nature of Taxation.â⬠n.p).Thus, as dynamic tax assessment can to be sure wipe out class battle and upgrade the capacity to make a stateless society through fair sharing of expense commitments, it likewise outfits the one-sided nature of the Communist government in their tendency towards the poor.â Though it is sound and sensible to force burdens on people who have higher ability to pay, certain contemplations are additionally should be given.

The Business Dictionary defines a management contract as anâagreement between investors or owners of a project, and a management company hired for coordinating and overseeing a contractâ.A business or an organization will hire a management company to perform specific tasks. The management company will receive a compensation for the work. Your organization might hire a management company to look after its marketing and under the contract, the management company would perform marketing on your companyâs behalf and receive a fee for doing so.Under the management contract, the operational control of the enterprise or the specific department would be in the hands of the management company. Therefore, the management company you would choose, would be able to make all the operational decisions regarding the function you specified, i .e. marketing.Your contract might limit the excess of the control, but in most instances, the contract includes all operational functions of that specific enterprise or department. The compensation for the management might be decided based on performance or it can be a set sum decided between you are the management company. You might provide the company a fixed monthly remuneration or a fixed percentage of the profit. On the other hand, your company might pay a specified sum based on certain performance metrics the management company is able to meet.A management contract will always consist of three core components. The three parts are the first things you will need to specify when seeking out a management contract. The parts are:The conditions of the contract â" The lengthiest and most detailed part of the management contract is naturally the conditions of it. The contract must clearly identify the parties involved and the functions that are being transferred to the management com pany. This includes the outline of the rules and responsibilities both parties have and the extent which either party can influence the operational functions once the contract starts. An example fee could be a % of total revenue and/or a % of gross profit. The video below is worth watching to understand the basics of a contract, which are directly applicable in the case of management contract as well. THE FUNCTIONS OF MANAGEMENT CONTRACTThe definition says how under the management contract the operational functions are handed over by a company to the management company. But what are the functions an organization or a company can hand over to the management company? The range of functions is wide and varied. The typical functions entail the following:Technical operations such as production of productsManagement of human resources, including training of personnelFinancial management of the organization such as accountingMarketing services, including promotionsA company can essentially identify the functions it hands over to the management company depending on its needs. Your business might require an outsider to look after your accounting, including a range of financial functions that fall u nder this operational department. On the other hand, larger enterprises might make management contracts on much wider operations, such as looking after a specific store or business entity. Are management contracts franchising deals?Since management contracts entrust the operational control of the entity or function to the management company, the contract is sometimes confused with a franchising agreement. But the two are separate from each other. Both management contracts and franchising deals are both opportunities to earn by selling intangibles and the agreements create an affiliation with another business entity. But under a management contract, a company is provided with structure and framework in the form of the deal, whereas a franchisee is an independent business. A franchising deal creates a contract between a franchiser â" someone who owns a company â" with the franchisee â" the person or organization buying the right to the company name and other trademarks.Letâs look a t the difference in the form of an example. If you own a hotel chain A, you might seek out to make a management contract with a company B over the operational control of a specific hotel. Under the management contract, B would gain the operational control of looking after the hotel and in turn, you would pay a specified fee to company B. Company B would be allowed to run the hotel in any way specified in the management contract. On the other hand, you might make a franchise deal with company C, which would allow the C to use the trademark of A and perhaps use some of the business models and tools of A. C would pay a specific fee to you, company A, for the rights.EXAMPLES OF MANAGEMENT CONTRACTSManagement contracts are a popular choice for organizations, especially those with large-scaling functions. The contracts are also used in a number of industries for a variety of functions. Below are some examples of the most common management contract types and brief description of what each contract means.Hotel managementThe hotel industry is one of the most popular industries when it comes to management contracts. The industry has a number of examples where a larger enterprise entrusts the operational management of a specific hotel to a management company. The management contract is made between the owner of a hotel and a management company, which will take operational control, often on the entirety of the hotel. It is common for the contract to provide the management company the control to service guests, maintain the premises, and conduct marketing and other promotional services. The management company will also set operational policies, as well as control the human resources of the specific hotel. The hotel management contracts tend to be long-term agreements due to the nature of the industry.Furthermore, the operator often has the upper hand in terms of the terms of the management contract. The below image clearly highlights the process of a management contract in t he hotel industry and outlines the basic principles of the process. Source: Green Hospitality Management websiteProperty managementAnother popular management contract example comes from the property industry. Property development companies tend to hire management companies to look after specific properties, either in business or residential properties. The management contract in the industry is rather similar to the example above of the hotel management contract. The property management generally is in charge of operations such as maintenance, tenant management and financial collection of rents and other arrays. Property management contracts typically include the whole property, as conflict of interest issues could arise if different management companies are used within a single property.Property management contracts are not only used by large businesses, but individuals can also hire a property management company to look after a second-home or another such real estate. The contract type can be beneficial to both parties.Association managersManagement contracts are not just about handing a number of functions away at once and it doesnât necessarily need to involve two enterprises. An example of a different type of transfer of functions is contracts of association managers. These management contracts often involve non-profits and other similar organizations, such as trade associations. These entities often donât have the resources to have the board of directors to be in charge of the day-to-day activities. This might be due to budget constraints, as hiring full time staff can cost much more than handing out operational control to a management company. When such contract is made, the management company tends to take operational control of things like meeting planning, communication management, accounting, and so on. Depending on the organization, the management contract might also include things like website management or the running of different sponsorship programs.Similar to association managers, industries like entertainmen t and sports often use management contracts. Artists and athletes tend to hire management companies to look after the mundane parts of their careers â" including booking sponsors, dealing with endorsements, enhancing public relations, and looking after their finances â" while they focus on creating art or performing as a top athlete.Under these management contracts, the fee is often directly linked to the personâs annual earnings, which can of course be enhanced by the management company (getting better sponsorship deals and so on).Food service managersManagement contracts are also used by the public sector. Food service management contracts are a good example of the management contracts in the sector. Under these agreements, schools sports facilities, nursing homes, and public office buildings have their food facilities and services provided and managed by a management company. The management company often pays a specific lease and a percentage of the food sales to the buildingâ s owner, while taking on the operational control of preparing, serving and marketing the food. These sorts of management contracts can sometimes be used in the private sector as well, with large corporations often having a management company take charge of feeding the employees, so to speak. The idea of the management contract is to provide smooth delivery of a core function of running a business (creating a place for the staff to enjoy a meal), but which is not the core part of the business or entity (schoolâs main function isnât to cater students dietary needs).Management contract templateIf you are considering a management contract, you could contact a third-party to help with the creation of the contract. Itâs especially important to seek out legal advice before signing a contract to ensure your business is not walking into a bad deal. You can also find out templates to guide you in the process for example here.THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGESSo, why are companies, indivi duals or organizations willing to transfer the control of certain operations to a management company? Should you consider creating a management contract as well or are any dangers lurking around the corner? Letâs look at the advantages and disadvantages of management contracts. The advantages of management contractThe benefits of creating a management contract deal with timesaving, operational continuity and knowledge. Handing out operational control of a specific function ticks out the specific operation from the businessâ âTo Doâ-list. The company doesnât have to worry about this aspect, but instead focus more on important areas or areas the business is better at.Consider you are running a start-up and you are trying to establish your business in the sector. Having to do your own bookkeeping might take too much of your time away from things like marketing or product development. By hiring a management company to look after the accounting part of the business, you are able to save time and your resources.Furthermore, that aspect of your business might not require enough attention to justify hiring an accountant as part of your team. The cost of a management contract could be less than hiring a full-time accountant for the business. Therefore, you will be better able to direct your resources in terms of money and time by entrusting the specific function of the business into the hands of a management company.Overall, the management contract can help distribute responsibility better. You wonât be in a situation where the human resource department also needs to manage the bookkeeping, but your resources are directed to deal with the right responsibilities. You also create a situation where the organization receives expertise and experience. Consider the example of a start-up. You might not be efficient in business finances, but instead know everything about marketing and product development. When you are hiring a management company to take control of yo ur accounting, you are seeking out services from a professional. Instead of relying on partial information, you will have an experienced person focusing on the operations they are most capable to perform. You therefore guarantee your businessâ finances are in the hand of professionals, which can boost your profitability and operational efficiency.Management contract can also provide more continuity to an organization. The contract company might have individual managers change during the contract, but the standards set at the start of the deal will continue to remain in place. What this means is that you donât need to worry about change in performance or style, as you have spelled out the conditions in the agreement. For example, you would have identified the expectations and the different processes you might want the management company to use or not use as part of the operational control. Therefore, you can continue to enjoy the same level of function and efficiency, without the need to worry how personnel changes might influence your business. The disadvantages of management contractDespite the obvious advantages outlined above, you shouldnât jump into a management contract. The contract can pose a few questions, which you need to consider before venturing into an agreement with a management company. The most obvious disadvantage of a management contract revolves around privacy. The organization is essentially surrendering information about its products, finances and other such matters to another entity. While the contract naturally deals with these issues and requires full confidentiality, the information is still not only confined to your organization. If your organization is in charge of every operational aspect, you can confine the information to in-house staff and premises. But with a management company, you entrust the information in the hands of people you havenât vetted yourself and place your trust on handing over information outside of the phy sical premises of your company. Although this risk can and should be managed by the management contract, it nonetheless exists.Furthermore, privacy issues are not just about your information and relationship with the management company. If your business uses third party suppliers, you need to ensure the contract with them doesnât deny your business from making a management contract. Third parties might have specific objections towards their information being handled by another entity or have issues with dealing with a third party instead of directly with your business. Itâs crucial to consider these issues before you venture into a management contract. Finally, you need to keep in mind overall issues regarding conflict of interest. If you are using a large management company, you need to be aware of the possibility the company also deals with your competitors. You want to ensure the management company resolves such possible conflicts of interest with your businessâ interests in mind. Management contracts shouldnât hinder your companyâs success. When drafting the contract, clearly identify the people who are in charge of your business and discuss how you want possible conflict of interests to arise. While it should be obvious from the definition of a management contract, it is worth reminding how the agreement transfers the operational control of your business to the management company. Therefore, depending on the clauses in your contract, you wonât have a say in many of the things the function will do. Itâs important to be aware of this because you might find yourself looking to influence decisions when things are not going well, for instance. Yet, the operational control is not in your hands and you just need to trust youâve made the right decision.THE BOTTOM LINEManagement contracts are a clever mechanism for sharing the burden of running an organization. The process entrusts certain operational responsibilities into the hands of a management c ompany â" an organization that is an expert in the specific field. The management company will receive a specific fee, while ensuring, the function is performed to the highest of standards.Due to the nature of these arrangements, they tend to be popular in industries such as hospitality, property management and even airline and the hauling industry. Under the management contract, the operations handed over can range from single functions, such as finances, to large-scale business management, such as looking after a specific hotel. Management contracts have the benefit of boosting a companyâs performance by enhancing knowledge and dividing responsibilities. On the other hand, getting another entity involved will always create the possibility of privacy issues and conflict of interest clashes. Nonetheless, the system can help large-scale organizations look after their businesses better or provide more resources for smaller companies. The contract is definitely worth exploring if cer tain functions of your business seem time-consuming or difficult to deal with.

As well risk management protects staff and patients by eliminating hazards within the organization. Quality management serves the purpose to ensure that patients are receiving the best care available. In the organization Evergreen Woods risk and quality management plays the same role as it does in any other health care organization. Being that this center is an in-patient facility serving many different patients with many different health issues there are many different risks involved in the daily operation of the organization. Key concepts of risk and quality management within Evergreen Woods rehab while are undefined to the public it is noticeable to any person that is involved in the organization whether it be a patient, family member or a staff member. The organization takes steps daily to ensure the safety and wellbeing of every person that walks in their doors. The doctors and nurses take extra steps to make sure that the residents and their family is comfortable with the choice they made in selecting them. The keep patients and families up to date on all issues that are transpiring with the patient whether it is health related or financial. The staff stays up to date on all regulations both state and federal to ensure the best quality of care is being received. The organization maintains a clean and hazard free environment. Steps that the organization can take to identify and manage their risks are Proper documentation, risk assessments and proper training of staff members. In order to manage the risk of medical errors the organization should make sure that all staff members are documenting the patientââ¬â¢s charts in the proper legal manner. As well the management should be making sure that there are properly documenting all information pertaining to the employees such attendance and job performance. Using risk assessments can keep the organization from ruling into issues concerning safety and financial risks. Performing assessments will allow management to see where forms of risk fall and what kind of risks is a possibility for the organization. After performing risk assessments the organization can then develop plans to minimize risk and maintain a safe efficiently running organization. Typical risks in a long term care facility such as Evergreen woods would be patient fall risk, injury to staff and patients due to improper transferring and financial risk due to insurance issues for both the organization and the patient. Since many patients in long term care facilities are ones that have mobility issues there is always a risk of falling which can further injure the patient. It is important for staff to make sure that the patient is labeled a fall risk and that necessary precautions are made to ensure the patients safety. Using items such as safety belts in wheelchairs and during therapy sessions can eliminate this risk. Another risk would be injury to staff and patients due to improper lifting, while this does not seem like something that is too difficult to do it is. Lifting a person with limited or no mobility can be very difficult for both the staff and the patient. There is a proper way to lift a patient and any and all staff members should be properly trained before being allowed to perform this task. The last risk would be financial issues due to insurance issues. ââ¬Å"Of 10 million Americans nearly 7 million of them being over 65 rely on some level of assisted careâ⬠(Weston 2012). This number does not include the number of people that are under the age of 65. Many people that rely on long term care live on disability or social security. These people are living on extremely limited income put them and their families in mental distress trying to figure out how to pay for the needed care. ââ¬Å"Medicare provides only 100 days of care following hospitalizationâ⬠(Weston 2012). After the 100 days it then becomes the responsibility of the patient to either pay out of their pocket or use a supplemental insurance. For many this is an issue as they do not have any other insurance nor do they have the finances to afford this care on their own. With patients under Medicaid insurance there is still an issue ââ¬Å"Medicaid provides long term care, but only after a patient has deplete his/her financesâ⬠(Weston 2012). So how does this affect the organization itself, now with lack of insurance you run the risk of not being paid for services already rendered. The other risk involved is that if a patient is unable to pay for the care themselves then they have to resort to other means of care, now the organization has empty beds. Empty beds mean that there is not a high need for staff members resulting in layoffs. All of these risks can in fact the quality negatively. The lack of funds causes the staff to not always give the best care to each patient. Injury to staff can cause the staff to become nervous when it comes to lifting patients as well it can make the patients not want to be lift in fear of being hurt cause them to lay for longer periods of time then they should. Any and all accidently injuries to a patient can in fact be seen as neglect by family members and could cause serious legal issues for all staff of the organization. While there are many internal and external risk in this organization the biggest risks internally would be lack of staff involvement, lack of funding and poor risk management. The care received by patients relies strongly on the doctors and nurses employed by the organization. If the staff is afraid or care not to voice their opinions and concerns this can cause a lack of quality care. When the staff does not feel that their needs matter they tend to not try their best this often leads to medical errors. Lack of funding to the organization cause the organization to cut corners, this in return hinders the care that the organization can give to patients. Funding is a big part of how an organization runs daily. If funding is low then the organization cannot hire top nurses and doctors nor can they provide state of the art equipment. Poor risk management is probably one of the most important. Without excellent risk management the organization puts not only the organizations name but the staff and patients in danger of physical and medical harm. As well poor risk management can bring legal problems to the organization. External risks that influence quality would be impact of regulations, Changes in insurance, Society changes. As the regulations change through the years it will begin to make the way that long term care facilities run. They will need to stay on top of the regulations as well as stay on top of the staff to make sure that they understand the impact that errors can cause. Nursing homes incur costs when they are required to make changes to comply with the regulationsâ⬠(Walshe n. a). Interference from the insurance company on what will and will not be covered will also cause problems with the care that is received by patients. As society changes the need for long term care will change, the needs now will not necessarily be the needs in 10 years. As changes occur within research we will see a big change in treatment this will in return call for more training as well as equipment changes. The organization Evergreen woods works daily to achieve goals within the organization. Their short term goals are excellent daily care of patients. This goal not only touches the health aspect of the patient but also the emotional health of a patient. While staying on top of each and every patientââ¬â¢s health issues they make time to check on each patient on a personal level. The organization strives to make sure that the families of the patients are happy with the care that the patient is receiving. For patients that are there rehab from an injury their short term goal is to get the patient well enough to go home and continue without patient treatment. Long term goals for the organization is to continue to be a leader in rehab services, to continue to serve the community with quality trusted care. In order to ensure quality care the three policies that the organization should put into effect would be monthly risk assessments, monthly staff training and patient surveys. All of these policies would help ensure that the organization is doing everything that they possible can do to provide excellent quality care. Risk management and quality management have a strong relationship with each other. Without risk management there would be no quality care, and without excellent quality there would be risks everywhere in an organization. In order for an organization to run properly and provide all the patients with the care they deserve they have to have strong risk and quality management. My Writing Fantasy Essays - Australian Films,
My Writing: Fantasy No one ever really thought that Skymat would ever end up looking the way it did, or run the way it is run. In the early 21st century the Ceo of Microtel and the Owners of Cybertech Inc., and Logics Inc branded together to start a colony of Americas most aristocratic citizens and put them somewhere. That somewhere took 4 years to decide and only after hundreds and hundreds of hours on consultation and thought, did Jean Marque Luquette of Logics decide that it could be done in the sky of our Earth. It was a great idea with the technology of the 24th century. No one thought it was possible but yet unscathed and determined the trio continued in their quest for a place in history. For about the next twenty years every technician, astrophysicist, and anyone else who would put some matter of thought into the ideas was met with and asked for their help. Unfortunately the same answer was given over and over again, The magnitude of such a creation is beyond our technological capabilities, sorr y! Thirty-Seven million dollars later and nothing to show the idea was scrapped and the project eliminated. It was not until the year of 2659 that the idea of putting such a city in the clouds was brought up again. Marcus Vent whose lineage traced back to Marque Luquette was a multi multi mutli trillionare with many connections and many influential friends. The word is that alone Marcus has more money then the next five richest men under him combined. Marcus had grown up reading science fiction books and had an imagination that got him in trouble quite a bit but never the less kept him wondering. His favorite book was Skymat written by the grandson of John McCleod the once former owner of Microtel. In it was the details of what his grandfather and his two colleagues proposed to do but did not have the equipment nor the technology to match their imaginations. Marcus read this book many hundred times and only later did he evolve a serious fascination for such a creation. Marcus vowed to build a city of such magnitude and create it exactly the way the three men had thought it up. In the year of 2707 and at the age of 87 Marcus was able to announce the inauguration of his new city. Only the most elite of the fine folk were given invitations to attend and live in this modern marvel as well as bring along their family. The dimensions of Skytel ended up to be quite a bit larger than anyone ever thought possible. The city in it self was 43 miles long and 27 miles wide as to give it a sort of rectanglish look to it. It was completely enclosed by a clear bubble as not to hinder the view. Their were four rural suburbs located around a central downtown with skyscrapers twice as tall as any ever known to man. Since there were no storms, wind, or any other catastrophic possibilites building height was not a problem. The Genius part of the whole network was how it stayed in the air and what kept it there. There were four gigantic generators each about 2 miles squared. Each o ne alone was powered by telekinetics. That is the energy given off by the people on the surface. Every square centimeter of the ground was covered with sensors that collected the energy and stored it in the generators. Now the tricky part was how it stayed in the air. The technology used had never been seen before, it took the brainpower of 2,000 scientist combined to make it work. In the middle of the city on the bottom half was an anti gravitational pull machine 15 miles wide 17 miles long that used the force of earths gravity, reversed it so that instead of it pulling on it pushed it up and kept it stable, and in place. To keep it from moving left to right there were four turbo jets on each side that give off sudden blasts of wind if the computers read that the city has moved even a half of

National Security and Outsourcing essays
National Security and Outsourcing essays The current spate of globalization brought myriad benefits to industries around the world. The United States alone benefited by way of outsourcing a lot of its industries to Third World Countries and emerging economies like China, India, the Philippines and Russia. The main reason for this endeavor is the bottom line. The low labor and operational costs offered by these countries make for an attracted business proposition especially when it comes to satisfying the investment returns of major stockholders. Outsourcing has been done to almost everything from business processes, customer relations management, production and technical services. But despite the hefty return in revenue, outsourcing is by no means totally secure or safe. Some segments of the US society looked at outsourcing as a threat to national security and they are far from wrong! In one example last year: India's 350,000 call-center workers are starting to mount, some outsourcing providers forgo background checks of e mployees and even help applicants dress up their resumes. In one security breach last year, three former employees of MphasiS, a company providing outsourcing services, were arrested for stealing more than $350,000 from four customers of Citibank. The workers were accused of acquiring passwords and transferring money from customers' bank accounts into their own. (Germain, 2006) The situation may only be a commercial problem but if taken exponentially and ends up hitting a lot of the American public, situations such as these may hold the US hostage economically by way of funds being stolen on a grand scale. Aside from the economic impact, national security can be compromised in terms of theft of technology. This is one of the major problems that faced outsourcing. American firms owning proprietary technology information may end up getting their processes reversed engineered when these technologies or parts thereof are outsour...

Bettys Summer Vacation Details and Summary
Bettys Summer Vacation Details and Summary Christopher Durangs plays are well-known for addressing taboo content in a biting and humorous manner.à Bettyââ¬â¢s Summer Vacation, with itsà talk of incest, murder, mutilation, rape, ââ¬Å"three ways,â⬠exposing/flashing, and more, is no exception. Durang notes that his sometimes irreverent manner in dealing with these sensitive topics is meant to reveal to an audience just how far news and entertainment have gone in desensitizing people towards topics that should produce feelings of horror and revulsion, but which are now are glossed over alongside stories of the latest Hollywood scandals. He likens modern audiences to those in Ancient Rome who found entertainment in gladiator battles and sending Christians to fight lions. He writes: ââ¬Å"But Iââ¬â¢ve not written a documentary, Iââ¬â¢ve written a play; and itââ¬â¢s a farcical play as well, in which we are not meant to EMPATHIZE with the characters the way one is meant to empathize with Blanche DuBois or Willy Loman; itââ¬â¢s more like following the stories of Candide and Cunnegonde in Candide, or the characters in a Joe Orton farce, or even the characters in a 1930s screwball comedy (though admittedly a dark one).â⬠It may be jarring to read or experience a Durang play if you are unprepared for his style. But, Durang aims for ââ¬Å"healing laughterâ⬠that comes from serious events that are now distant enough from an audience that when described in a particular manner can be found humorous. Plot Synopsis Betty is on summer vacation in a shared rental property with her friend Trudy, Trudyââ¬â¢s mother Mrs. Siezmagraff, Keith, and Buck. Trudy is a talkative young woman who grates on Bettyââ¬â¢s nerves. Buck is an over-sexed lout and Keith just might be a serial killer with a head in a hatbox. Mrs. Siezmagraff is a codependent, Auntie Mame-ish wild woman.à She invites a homeless man, Mr. Vanislaw, to come over for the night as her date. Mr.Vanislaw is wearing a trench coat and sneakers and he flashes everyone in the house and alludes to his penis every chance he gets. Trudy and Betty beg Mrs. Siezmagraff to keep Mr. Vanislaw under control, but she refuses to acknowledge his lewd behavior just as she refused to acknowledge that her late husband molested Trudy. After a night of charades, Mrs. Siezmagraff and Mr. Vanislaw go out drinking. Mrs. Siezmagraff passes out on the floor and Mr. Vanislaw, mad that his date is no longer able to perform, goes in search of Trudy and rapes her. Afterwards Trudy is furious with her mother for allowing the man into their house and demands that she do something, but Mrs. Siezmagraff turns a blind eye and says, ââ¬Å"Every time I get a husband or a boyfriend, Trudyââ¬â¢s always after them.â⬠Trudy is enraged and grabs a kitchen knife and cuts off Mr. Vanislawââ¬â¢s penis. Keith then cuts off his head. During these events there is canned laughter, similar to that of a laugh track, coming from the ceiling. At first it is sporadic and confusing to the characters, but eventually they become accustomed to the laughter and question why some line or action might get a laugh while others do not. Then the Voices in the ceiling start talking back to the characters and making requests. Those requests soon turn into demands. When Mrs. Siezmagraff calls 911 and the dispatcher tells her to bring Keith and Trudy to the police station, and Betty goes for a walk, and Buck leaves to find the townsââ¬â¢ easy widow, and there is no one left for the Voices to watch, they get frustrated and angry and crash through the ceiling and into the setting of the play. They are a three-headed monster of sorts. They have three different personalities, but share a connected body bound with wires and tubing. The Voices demand that Betty and the rest of the residents at the summer share put on a courtroom drama to entertain them. After an Oscar worthy performance by Mrs. Siezmagraff in which she plays defense attorney, abusive mother, and long lost Irish maid, The Voices pronounce Keith and Trudy innocent of all charges. However, The Voices wonââ¬â¢t stop there. They want violence and more violence. They want Keith to cut off more heads and Trudy to cut off more penises. When Buck comes home, this is just what Keith and Trudy do, all the while bonding nicely over the gruesome experience. The Voices want more. They want Keith to blow up the house. Betty begs to escape and manages to run as Keith turns on the gas stove and pulls out a match. Production Details Setting: A nice seaside summer community - maybe somewhere on the New Jersey shore. Not a trendy, chic location. Time: Summer Cast Size: This play can accommodate 9 actors. Male Characters: 5 Female Characters: 4 Characters that could be played by either males or females: 0 Roles Betty is a reasonable young woman. She is the most normal of the group of characters assembled at the summer share. She feels pressured by her job and her mother and is looking for a relaxing vacation at the beach. Trudy uses words as medication. She speaks long and incessantly about anything and everything. She is not used to being listened to and is surprised when Betty or The Voices acknowledge her. She is desperate for attention. Keith is a quiet young man who is looking to be left alone. He had a troubled childhood similar to Trudyââ¬â¢s and learned to cope by cutting off peopleââ¬â¢s heads. Buck is a ââ¬Å"lout-hunk.â⬠He is sexist in a naà ¯ve way. He believes that all women want to be with him just as he wants to be with them. He prefers to get off about 20 times a day and feels in pain if he falls short of this number. Mrs. Siezmagraff is a grand old woman. She lives life in a large way with self-inflicted blinders. She refuses to see herself or her daughter as a victim, instead choosing to view Trudy as competition for the love/lust of despicable men. Mr. Vanislaw is a derelict who gets his jollies by exposing himself to women as often as possible. He is uncomplicated and unapologetic in his wants and desires. The Group of Voices are comprised of two men and one woman. They are a cross section of demographics that TV stations poll to see what America finds entertaining. Production/Character Notes In the script provided by Dramatists Play Service, Inc, Christopher Durang has notes for potential directors, actors, and producers. He writes about tone, character choices, the use of blood and much more. Any theatre or company looking to produce Bettyââ¬â¢s Summer Vacation would find it useful to read and study these notes. Re-designing Services Offered by NHS UK Assignment
Re-designing Services Offered by NHS UK - Assignment Example The authorities have to establish better performance evaluation systems and ensure that their facilities are delivering world class services like their neighboring countries. Established on 5th July 1948, NHS is now one of the largest public health care service in the world (Hawe, 2008). The UK authorities established the NHS to provide the residents with equal access to treatment. NHS aims to provide clinical help to patients regardless of their ability to pay for the medical expenses. The organization is funded through national taxation and this ensures that NHS is able to provide care to people who are not able to afford it with personal means (Dept. of Health Staff, 2004). This report will now conduct a SWOT analysis of NHS UK. This analysis is expected to present more clearly the current situation of this organization, show its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. The government has increased the investment in NHS UK. While the organization only had 33 billion in 1996/1997 to spend, it now has around 67.4 billion in funds for its needs. NHS has also seen an increase in spending on buildings and equipment and now has 3.4 billion for investment in the infrastructure. This surplus has allowed the organization to have more modern equipment and facilities and take better care of its patients. NHS has also decided to have more staff on board and thus it has begun to steadily increase the number of doctors, nurses and attendants (Dept. of Health Staff, 2004). These figures indicate that the organization has the attention of the authorities, and the government is trying to pull it up by putting more money for its sustenance and future growth. The funds available to NHS have increased considerable over the last decade, and the authorities now have the money to improve their infrastructure. By purchasing modern equipment, NHS can dramatically improve its quality of services and gain appreciation from the patients in the UK. In addition, NHS has more staff at its disposal and thus they have more hands to provide services to their community. Weaknesses Even though the authorities are making several efforts to improve the quality and accessibility of NHS, the organization is often accused of low standard in health care. A report indicates that in comparison to other European countries, the patients' survival rates were very low in NHS. This reason for this low rate was due to poor organization of services. NHS has very long outpatient and elective surgery waiting times and need to have more focus on areas such as cancer and heart disease (Scambler, 2003). Apparently NHS is not improving despite the amount of money it is receiving from the government. The residents of UK are not happy with the quality of services and are still complaining about the low standard in health care. The patients are comparing the services available to them with those of health care services provided to residents in other European countries. NHS needs better organization of services where the patients don't have to wait for a very long time for surgeries. Also, NHS has to ensure that

Turkish Music and Folklore Poetry Research Paper
Turkish Music and Folklore Poetry - Research Paper Example The essay talks about Turkish literature, which is nearly 1500 years old. It flourished greatly under the rule of the Ottoman Empire. Turkish music and folklore poetry both form a part of the Turkish literature, and has been extremely popular amongst the Turkish people for centuries, thus ensuring that these cultural traditions remain preserved. The oldest written records of Turkey have been found to be that of the 8th century Orhon inscriptions (in the Orhon river valley situated in Mongolia). Between the 8th and 9th century there came a new wave where literary representation was in an oral form, like the Manas epic and Book of Dede Korkut. Thus, we find that Turkish literature had two forms, the oral compositions and written books, and these two traditions remain separate from each other until the fall of the Ottoman Empire in 1922. It was only in 1923, after the republic of Turkey was created, that the two forms of literature came together to from the modern literary type. My arti cle will explore the literature of Turkey, pertinent to Turkish music and folklore poetry. It will study to find the relation between Turkish music and its folklore poetry, while exploring the history of the music as it developed through the various ages. It will also explore and analyse relevant data in its endeavour to find out the importance of music and the role it plays within the realms of Turkish poetry. The paper concludes that Turkish music developed from the folklore poetry and the two terms are synonymous with each other.

Against Mandatory School Uniforms in Public School Essay -- Education
Imagine that you pick your seven-year-old child up from school. He is crying and wearing a different outfit than the one he wore to school. This is naturally upsetting but not as upsetting as your next discovery. His shirt, one you have never seen before, has a large "L" written on the sleeve in permanent marker; his shorts, also not his, are too large, stained and faded. Upon questioning your child, you discover that, despite your best efforts at compliance, your childââ¬â¢s clothing has violated the schoolââ¬â¢s uniform policy. Neither you nor your husband was called to bring your child a "compliant" change of clothing; rather a loaner uniform was forced upon your child. He was made to change into these alien clothes (McBride "Student" 1-2). The debate over mandatory uniforms in the public school system is raging across the country and in our own backyards. Proponents claim uniforms improve many areas in the educational arena while opponents vigorously challenge these claims. Opponents also cite potential civil rights violations while uniform supporters counter that the potential benefits greatly outweigh any loss of freedoms. The issue of mandatory uniforms in the public schools gained the spotlight of national attention following President Clintonââ¬â¢s 1996 State of the Union address. During that speech the President stated, "If it means that teenagers will stop killing each other over designer jackets, then our public schools should be able to require their students to wear uniforms" (Clinton 4). The President later visited Long Beach, California, where the first, district wide, mandatory school uniform policy in the country was enjoying seemingly remarkable success. He told those attending his speech that he had signed an order instructing the Secretary of Education to send to all school districts across the nation the newly generated Manual on School Uniforms ("Clinton" 1). The manual outlines specific steps for school districts wishing to implement uniform policies. It also gives examples of a few model policies from across the nation (United 1-7). The President went on to thank and praise Long Beach for their glowingly successful uniform policy ("Clinton" 3). Thus, the Long Beach Unified School Districtââ¬â¢s uniform policy became the national standard for school districts across the country. Benjamin Franklinââ¬â¢s Autobiography Virtues Essay
In his late 20ââ¬â¢s, President Benjamin Franklin listed 13 virtues that he felt were an important guide for living. The following virtues can be divided in personal and social behavior: Temperance, Silence, Order, Resolution, Frugality, Industry, Sincerity, Justice, Moderation, Cleanliness, Tranquility, Chastity and Humility. Despite the fact that he tried to follow these guides in his life and went away, consider this being worthwhile in your own life. Temperance, eat not to dullness. Franklin states some associate temperance with eating and drinking, but wasnââ¬â¢t his intentions. My reasoning for why I feel this is one of the most important virtues is because one should always keep cool no matter what situation. Conquering your primal urges for food and drink, youââ¬â¢ll have the confidence to start making improvements in other areas of your life. As being taught in different ways in todayââ¬â¢s time, order is another important virtue. Let all your things have their places. A man must fight against these natural laws if he wishes to do well in the world. I feel that itââ¬â¢s most important because being organized and properly creates a well rounded individual. Cleanliness, Sincerity, Fragility and Resolution is what influence the childrenââ¬â¢s childhood. Having the confidence to allow your actions speak for themselves, Franklin considered humility to be something worth acquiring and I agree with him. Men have pride in themselves showing the sign of strength and courage to mark a true person. They think of their abilities than they really are and honesty. The majority of the list of virtues is also valuable. Benjamin Franklins issues werenââ¬â¢t important but society has changed and thatââ¬â¢s mainly are cause in the 20th century. Learning about Franklinââ¬â¢s experience, I find him as an intelligent man who has influenced the immature process of children before and today.

Asyndeton Definition and Examples
Asyndeton is aà rhetorical term for a writing style that omits conjunctions between words, phrases, or clauses. Adjective: asyndetic. The opposite of asyndeton isà polysyndeton. According to Edward Corbett and Robert Connors, The principal effect of asyndeton is to produce a hurried rhythm in the sentence (Classical Rhetoric for the Modern Student, 1999). In his study of Shakespeares style, Russ McDonald argues that the figure of asyndeton works by means of juxtaposition rather than coupling, thereby depriving the auditor of clear logical relations (Shakespeares Late Style, 2010). Examples and Observations He was a bag of bones, a floppy doll, a broken stick, a maniac.(Jack Kerouac, On the Road, 1957)Joona walks through the Christmas market in Bollnà ¤s Square. Fires are burning, horses are snorting, chestnuts are roasting. Children race through a stone maze, others drink hot chocolate.(Lars Kepler, The Hypnotist. Trans. by Ann Long. Picador, 2011)Speed up the film, Montag, quick. Click, Pic, Look, Eye, Now, Flick, Here, There, Swift, Pace, Up, Down, In, Out, Why, How, Who, What, Where, Eh? Uh! Bang! Smack! Wallop, Bing, Bong, Boom!(Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451, 1953)She was young, she was pure, she was new, she was nice,She was fair, she was sweet seventeen. He was old, he was vile, and no stranger to vice,He was base, he was bad, he was mean.He had slyly inveigled her up to his flatTo view his collection of stamps.(Flanders and Swann, Have Some Madeira, MDear)Why, theyve got ten volumes on suicide alone. Suicide by race, by color, by occupation, by sex, by seasons of the year, by tim e of day. Suicide, how committed: by poisons, by firearms, by drowning, by leaps. Suicide by poison, subdivided by types of poison, such as corrosive, irritant, systemic, gaseous, narcotic, alkaloid, protein, and so forth. Suicide by leaps, subdivided by leaps from high places, under the wheels of trains, under the wheels of trucks, under the feet of horses, from steamboats. But Mr. Norton, of all the cases on record, theres not one single case of suicide by leap from the rear end of a moving train.(Edward G. Robinson as insurance agent Barton Keyes in Double Indemnity, 1944)It is a northern country; they have cold weather, they have cold hearts.Cold; tempest; wild beasts in the forest. It is a hard life. Their houses are built of logs, dark and smoky within. There will be a crude icon of the virgin behind a guttering candle, the leg of a pig hung up to cure, a string of drying mushrooms. A bed, a stool, a table. Harsh, brief, poor lives.(Angela Carter, The Werewolf. The Bloody Cham ber and Other Stories, 1979)I have found the warm caves in the woods, filled them with skillets, carvings, shelves, closets, silks, innumerable goods(Anne Sexton, Her Kind)In some ways, he was this town at its best--strong, hard-driving, working feverishly, pushing, building, driven by ambitions so big they seemed Texas-boastful.(Mike Royko, A Tribute)Anyway, like I was saying, shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Deys uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. Theres pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That--thats about it.(Bubba in Forrest Gump, 1994)Fog everywhere. Fog up the river, where it flows among green aits and meadows; fog down the river, where it rolls deified among the tiers of shipping and the waterside pollutions of a great (and dirty) city. Fog on the Essex m arshes, fog on the Kentish heights. Fog creeping into the cabooses of collier-brigs; fog lying out on the yards and hovering in the rigging of great ships; fog drooping on the gunwales of barges and small boats. Fog in the eyes and throats of ancient Greenwich pensioners, wheezing by the firesides of their wards; fog in the stem and bowl of the afternoon pipe of the wrathful skipper, down in his close cabin; fog cruelly pinching the toes and fingers of his shivering little prentice boy on deck. Chance people on the bridges peeping over the parapets into a nether sky of fog, with fog all round them, as if they were up in a balloon and hanging in the misty clouds.(Charles Dickens, Bleak House, 1852-1853) Functions of Asyndeton When [asyndeton] is used in a series of words, phrases, or clauses, it suggests the series is somehow incomplete, that there is more the writer could have included (Rice 217). To put it somewhat differently: in a conventional series, writers place an and before the final item. That and signals the end of the series: Here it is folks--the last item. Omit that conjunction and you create the impression that the series could continue. . . Asyndeton can also create ironic juxtapositions that invite readers into collaborative relationships with writers: because there are no explicit connections between phrases and clauses, readers must supply them to reconstruct the writers intent. . . Asyndeton can also quicken the pace of prose, especially when it is used between clauses and sentences.(Chris Holcomb and M. Jimmie Killingsworth, Performing Prose: The Study and Practice of Style in Composition. SIU Press, 2010) EtymologyFrom the Greek, unconnected Pronunciation: ah-SIN-di-ton
